Long time, no post!

Well, I've been really busy lately, so no time for the blog, sadly. However, the show I'm costuming opens on Friday, so hopefully once all the costumes are made, I'll have more time on my hands.

In the meantime, for all you Wicked aficionados, remember Galinda's Wardrobe? Well, thanks to Andrea, it's back up at www.galindaswardrobe.com and it looks great! So feel free to go there for all your Wicked pix and resources, and remember what a great tool the forums are! =)

Possible Emerald City Dress fabric?

Cathy, who recently showed us her AWESOME Glinda's Emerald City recreation, sent us some pictures of a fabric she found at Joanns. I wasn't able to find it on the website (if anyone can, lemme know!), but it's sold in stores. Sadly, out of my price range. But those of you more monetarily fortunate seamstresses may want to take notice. =)

(And on a non-musical note, I think it would also be decent if anyone wanted to recreate Padme's yellow dress from Episode II.)

Glinda's Emerald City Dress: recreated by Cathy! =)

"It's Glinda, now!"

So the lovely Cathy (of the Crafty Corner acclaim) has made a beautiful recreation of the Emerald City Dress/One Short Day Dress (I really need to just pick one and stay consistent, don't I...). You can see more pictures and how she made it at this blogpost.  It looks very much like the original, and she made it very inexpensively. You should definitely all go check it out!

NessaRose's Party Gown

Photobucket

"What's in the punch?"
"Melons and lemons and pears."
"Oh my!"
--Ozdust Ballgown

This is the adorable party dress NessaRose wears to the ball with Boq. It's similar in many ways to Galinda's Popular dress, from the general shape of the bodice to the layered look of the skirt. And, you know, the colour. It's a peach strapless dress (she wears a filmy pink Bolero over it) worn over her jeweled shoes and accented with a pink headband.

Wicked Costume Directory: NessaRose

Alone and loveless here,
With just the girl in the mirror
Just her and me: the Wicked Witch of the East!
We deserve each other...
~Nessa Rose, "The Wicked Witch of the East"

NessaRose Thropp, Elphaba's little disabled sister, is kind of an interesting case. She of the "tragically beautiful" face starts out as a pretty unimportant figure, then gets shunted into place as one of the figures in the Galinda/Elphaba/Fiyero/Boq Love Dodecahedron. As her love for Boq is completely unrequited, she turns into a scary stalker chick, and by the time Elphaba comes back to check on her in Act 2, she's become the Wicked Witch of East.
